ANTHONY "TONY" GIESEN
August 2, 2025
Anthony "Tony" Giesen of Kinlough died Aug. 2, 2025, at the age of 85. Born in the Netherlands, Feb. 26, 1940, in the middle of Second World War, he was the seventh boy in the Giesen family. At the age of 18, Tony had a desire to immigrate to Canada to join his five brothers who had come here before him. In 1958, this opportunity became a reality, and together with his parents and younger sister, Mary, he came to the London, Ontario, area and worked at general construction of buildings, barns and bridges, etc. At the age of 65, he dedicated his life to his Creator God and spent a great part of the next 15 years in Peru, building a mission house in Jequetepque near Pacasmayo, Peru, with full agreement from his wife Mary Ann. It was an easy choice. He always tried to do things God’s way, continuing to lean on Him for direction. Tony and Mary Ann enjoyed the many places they lived, especially the last few years in the small Hamlet of Kinlough, near Kincardine. He wanted to die at home and almost made it, except for the last little bit, when he went to Huron Shores Hospice in Tiverton and breathed his final breath Aug. 2. He was always thankful for the health and strength he enjoyed in this life, and did not want anyone to grieve for him when he was gone, rather to look forward to the time we would meet again in Heaven. He spoke of this often. In his last days, he expressed what a privilege it was to have lived 85 years. Tony was the father of Susanne married to Alan, Deborah married to Jim, Raymond, and predeceased by his son, Greg, married to Lisa. He was the step-dad of Michele married to Reid, Tina, Carla married to Craig, and Rob married to Janice. Proud Opa of 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and dearly loved and remembered by each one. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Huron Shores Hospice, Tiverton, would be appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences may be made on-line at www.daveylinklaterfuneralhomes.com.
