The bright, sunny, summer sky and the Ainsdale ladies went together like warm summer wine and good old cheese, Tuesday at Ainsdale Golf Course.
The ladies and their guests assembled for the annual Meridian Credit Union barbecue. The players enjoyed a four-person drop-off scramble on the golf course, followed by the barbecue dinner where they enjoyed a cooked-to-order steak or smoked pork chop, along with all the trimmings and dessert.
The evening was capped of with a social hour and awards from the prize table which was very generously stocked by Meridian Credit Union, sponsor of the event
The winning teams rushing to the prize table were; Beth Mimnagh, Heather Struthers, Jean Rhude and Nancy Turcotte, followed by Jeanne Grobowsky, Heather McGregor-Brown, Wendy Houghton and Christine Macdonald, just ahead of Anne Burton, Adele Burton, Jennifer Lawrie and Linda Lawrie, and last, but not least, Bonnie Boyd, Brenda Grant, Wendy Gardner and Maureen Peet.
The closest to the pin on No. 8 was Maureen Peet and the winners of the vouchers for a Dairy Queen ice cream cake were Norie Dickson and Donna Murray.
SENIOR MEN'S LEAGUE
A warm, sunny morning greeted the 60 players in the Senior Men's scramble, on the front nine at Ainsdale, Wednesday, July 29.
After a three-way tie at minus-3, the team of Murray Wardell, Terry Colwell, Steve MacEachern and Peter Newson prevailed in a putt-off.
Closest to the pin winners were Brian Rhody at No. 3 and Art Koberinski Sr. at No. 8.
