Bruce County Library marks Canadian Library Month with kids’ card membership drive
October is Canadian Library Month, and library staff across Canada is increasing awareness of the important roles that libraries play in Canadians’ lives.
The Bruce County Public Library consists of 17 branches throughout the county that are pillars in their communities, constantly growing and finding new and innovative ways to stay on top of digital trends and to support the communities they serve.
To celebrate Canadian Library Month, the Bruce County Public Library is unveiling its new kids’ cards. The three designs represent the library and encourage its youngest patrons to Imagine, Explore, and Inspire.
And if that’s not enough reason to visit the local library branch, there is an exciting give-away opportunity open to all children in Bruce County, ages 12 and under. For the month of October, when children register for a new card, attend a program in a branch, or borrow an item, they will receive a ballot to be entered to win a Nintendo Switch! This is a county-wide give-away, with the Nintendo Switch going to one lucky child.
“We love to see young patrons exploring all that our libraries offer, from borrowing books, to coding robots, or learning to use a 3D printer,” says Brooke McLean, director of library services. “Our children’s membership drive is designed to connect with children and families who have yet to discover the wonder of libraries.”
The library collection is continually growing, offering everything from snowshoes, ukuleles, board games and puzzles, to museum and park passes. Visit the
Non-Traditional Collections page to get a complete list of everything available with your library card.
