The Nicol Insurance Kincardine Junior C Bulldogs have started this hockey season with a bang, notching five wins and a tie in the opening weeks of play.

The 'Dogs were on the road last weekend, downing Hanover, 3-1, Sept. 18, and Mount Forest, 5-0, Sept. 19.

Goal-scorers in the game against the Barons, were Jordan Bell, Zach Freiburger and Patrick Wiejak, while scoring against the Patriots, were Wiejak, Dan Skinner, Gerrit Satosek, Eric Langridge and Shane Vollmer.

This past weekend, Kincardine travelled to Wingham Friday night, and doubled the Ironmen, 4-2. Scoring, were Wiejak, Brett Burrows, Dalton Hnatko and Vollmer.

Back at the Davidson Centre, Saturday night, the 'Dogs clipped the wings of the Mitchell Hawks, 5-2.

Rhys Vollmer opened the scoring with an unassisted effort early in the first period. Mitchell tied it up seconds later on the powerplay. But Eric Langridge put Kincardine back in the lead, on a powerplay goal from Matthew Mah. The Hawks managed to tie things at 2-2 by the end of the first.

However, the 'Dogs took over the rest of the game, with Patrick Wiejak scoring from Shane Vollmer and Brett Burrows a minute into the second; and Dan Skinner scoring from Rhys Vollmer a minute later.

Keegan Angel scored from Wiejak early in the third and then the Bulldogs shut down the Hawks, to take the 5-2 win.

Kincardine travels to Mitchell Oct. 3, and is back on home ice at the Davidson Centre, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m., to take on the Walkerton Hawks.
