Kincardine teen places in top 10 at worlds in stand-up paddle-boarding
Cameron “Cam” Carney, 16, of Kincardine has taken his stand-up paddle-boarding skills to a new level, placing in the top 10 at the world competition held in Denmark.
Back in August, the national championships were held in Collingwood. Mike Howes, also of Kincardine, captured the national title in the sprints, while Cam finished second in the men’s distance race which was more than 20 kilometres long. Ash Adams of Kincardine finished third in the distance race.
Cam qualified for the worlds as the top junior in Canada and has just returned home from Copenhagen, Denmark, where he placed ninth in the Under-18 category.
He is looking forward to his next race, the ICF (International Canoe Federation) Worlds in Sarasota, Florida, in November.
His coach is world champion Michael Booth of Australia.
