The residents of Kincardine deserve better!

Over the past three years, this term of Kincardine council has proposed tax hikes totalling 24 per cent, a staggering increase far out-pacing inflation or the incomes of most residents. Such decisions are especially egregious during a housing crisis and soaring costs of living.

Recent proposals include another 9.06-per-cent increase for 2025 alone, adding further strain to families already struggling to make ends meet. Meanwhile, many councillors enjoy substantial incomes linked to Bruce Power, disconnecting them from the financial realities of ordinary residents juggling bills and mortgages.

This growing divide is unacceptable. Rising taxes risk driving young families and seniors out of Kincardine, threatening the community’s future. The council must prioritize fiscal responsibility and compassion over wish lists detached from residents’ struggles.

It’s time for accountability. Residents must remind their leaders who they serve and demand better decisions for Kincardine’s future.
