Kincardine collaborates with Bruce County to launch Spruce the Bruce program
The Municipality of Kincardine is partnering with Bruce County to launch the Spruce the Bruce program, as of today (Feb. 1).

The program grant funding to help strengthen communities and maintain and enhance downtown businesses in both Kincardine and Tiverton. Eligible business owners and property owners are encouraged to learn more and apply at sprucethebruce.com.

At Jan. 27, Kincardine council approved utilizing $20,000 in funding from the Community Improvement Program to support the Spruce the Bruce program, making it possible for business owners to apply for grants to enhance exterior facades, create new signage, install awnings or patios, and make accessibility improvements.

“Supporting our downtown businesses is critical for creating vibrant communities,” said mayor Kenneth Craig. “It is more than just boosting our local economy — it's about preserving the heart of our communities. These businesses create jobs, foster connections, and give our downtowns their unique character and charm.”

The municipality, county and applicant will each contribute one-third funding for each grant, up to a maximum amount which varies depending on the program (for example, a façade improvement grant covers up to a maximum of $4,000.)

Properties that have received Spruce the Bruce funding in past years may be eligible for funding in 2025 for projects. Funding is available on a first-come, first-serve basis to eligible businesses and property owners.

“We are excited to partner with the Municipality of Kincardine to be able to support businesses and community partners to help revitalize properties and build vibrant communities through Spruce the Bruce,” says county economic development manager Jeff Loney. “These resources support the growth of our communities and public experiences in Bruce County.”
