Kincardine Bulldogs split games on the weekend
The Kincardine Bulldogs of the PJHL edged the Fergus Whalers in a shoot-out, 4-3; but lost to the Hanover Barons, by a close 5-4 score, on the weekend.

Kincardine travelled to Fergus, Friday night, and opened the scoring midway through the first period on a goal by Caeleb Bowler from Cooper Love and Jordan Moulton.

Minutes later, Fergus tied it up, before Aiden Yarde scored from Trent Houghton and Callum Snedden to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead.

Early in the second, Carter Servais scored from Houghton and Love to make it a 3-1 lead for Kincardine, but Fergus scored minutes later, to come within one.

The Whalers scored the tying goal early in the third frame, to force the game into overtime.

With no scoring in the overtime period, the game went to a shoot-out, with Bryce Martin and Houghton firing in markers for Kincardine, compared to one goal for Fergus, giving the Bulldogs the 4-3 win.

Bulldogs goalie Sebastian Moncada made 36 saves on 39 shots.

Back at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, Saturday night, the ‘Dogs faced off against the Hanover Barons.

Once again, Kincardine opened the scoring just seconds into the game, on a goal by Servais from Martin and James Hendry.

Hanover tied it up, and then took a two-goal lead early in the second. Snedden scored from Wilson Shipp and Yarde to put the ‘Dogs within one, heading into the final frame.

Bowler scored from Dolmage and Servais late in the period to edge the Bulldogs closer to a tie game, but time ran out and the Barons took the 5-4 win.

Kincardine goalie Moncada made 30 saves on 35 shots.

The ‘Dogs take on Wingham, Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, at 7:30 p.m.; and face off against Goderich, Monday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m., also at the Davidson Centre.
