Bulldogs lead series against Wingham, 3-0, heading into Wednesday’s Game 4
The Kincardine Bulldogs have put a strangle-hold on the Wingham Ironmen, leading their quarter-final series, 3-0, heading into Game 4, tomorrow night (Feb. 26) in Wingham, in the Pollock Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.
The series opened Friday night at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine when the Bulldogs edged Wingham, 4-3.
Scoring for Kincardine, were Callum Snedden with two, and Aiden Yarde and Trent Houghton with singles.
Assists went to Keaton Vander Hoek, Bryce Martin, James Hendry, Kyle Dolmage (2), Caeleb Bowler (2), and Houghton.
Bulldogs goalie Sebastian Moncada made 22 saves on 25 shots.
Saturday night in Wingham, the ‘Dogs slammed the Ironmen, 4-1.
Goal-scorers for Kincardine, were Chad Lawrence, Madden Steen, Cooper Schneider and Bowler.
Assisting on the goals, were Bowler, Houghton, Jordan Moulton and Lawrence.
Moncada made 21 saves on 22 shots.
Back at the Davidson Centre, Sunday night, Kincardine took Game 3, by a score of 6-4, in front of a packed house.
The ‘Dogs opened the scoring early in the first period on a powerplay goal by Moulton from Hendry and Martin. Seconds later, Wingham tied it up.
Kincardine then went ahead 2-1, on a goal by Snedden from Hendry and Martin, but late in the first, Wingham tied it again, taking a 2-2 game into the second period.
The Ironmen scored early in the second to take the lead, before Carter Servais scored a natural hat-trick in just under three minutes, to put the Bulldogs ahead, 5-3. The Ironmen managed to fire in another shot, coming within one as they headed into the third period.
However, in the final frame, Houghton scored an empty-netter from Servais, to seal the 6-4 victory for the Bulldogs.
Kincardine goalie Rowen Cherrett made 32 saves on 36 shots.
The Bulldogs travel to Wingham for Game 4, and if necessary, Game 5 will be played Friday night (Feb. 28), at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, at 8 p.m.
