Ainsdale Golf Classic raises almost $42,000 for local sports groups and organizations
The eighth annual Ainsdale Golf Classic, held Saturday, presented by Shoreline Power Group, has raised $41,849 for minor sports groups and organizations in Kincardine and Ripley.
To date, this event has raised almost $165,000 for youth in the community.
“We are so thankful and proud,” said Taylor Candler, who owns and operates Ainsdale Golf Course with her husband, Charles. “We had 170 golfers out for the two rounds - the 8 a.m. start, and the 2 p.m. start.
“We couldn’t pull this off without all of our amazing sponsors, staff, volunteers, players and businesses that donated. Thank you all!”
All proceeds go to the following organizations:
- Kincardine Minor Hockey
- Kincardine Minor Baseball
- Kincardine Minor Soccer
- Kincardine Skating Club
- Kincardine Kippers Swim Team
- Kincardine Klassics Gymnastics Club
- Kincardine and District Senior School Athletics
- Ripley-Huron Community School
- Kinetic Knights Robotics Team (FRC Team 781)
- Ripley Summer Sports
- Ripley-Huron Skating Club
- Huron-Bruce Minor Hockey
The 8 a.m. shotgun start went off without a hitch in the sunshine. However, the 2 p.m. start saw ominous clouds move in and heavy rain for about a half-hour before the sun returned.
The winning team for the morning round, included Steven Gilroy, Rob Hoare, Chris Trahan and John Inglis. In second place, was the team of Mitch Jarvis, Brett Burrows, Travis McLaughlin and Scott Austin.
The top team for the afternoon round, included Nathon Taraniuk, Evan Martin, Marty Mitchell and Stacy Brent. In second place, was the team of Derek Regier, Dusty Hughes, Chad Carruthers and Travis Donaldson.
The winning ladies’ team for the 2 p.m. shotgun round, included Cindy Schmidt, Cathy Alcombrack, Sharon McKay and Chris McBride.
