Kincardine Bulldogs lose two to Penetang in PJHL exhibition action
The Kincardine Bulldogs of the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) have suffered two losses to the Penetang Kings, in exhibition action this past week.
Saturday night (Aug. 16), the ‘Dogs travelled to the Wasaga Beach Arena and came home on the short end of a 7-1 score.
Gabe Hunter had the lone goal for Kincardine.
Bulldogs goalie Ethan Madden made 23 saves on 28 goals, while his colleague, goalie Logan King, made 11 saves on 13 shots. Kincardine posted 18 shots on goal, compared to 41 by Penetang.
It was a closer match, Wednesday night (Aug. 20) in Kincardine, as the ‘Dogs battled hard but the Kings took the game, 4-3, in overtime.
Penetang opened the scoring midway in the first period.
Kincardine tied it up early in the second, on a goal by Jackson Walden from Ty McQuillin. Midway in the period, Penetang made it a 2-1 game, but the ‘Dogs tied it at 2-2 on a goal by Ryan Livingston from Cody Frook.

Penetang took the lead on a powerplay goal early in the third, before Jared Houghton scored the tying goal, from Jackson Howard-Nelson and Bryce Martin, midway in the period, forcing the game into overtime.
The teams battled through the overtime period, with Penetang scoring late in the frame to take the 4-3 win.
Bulldogs goalie Rowen Cherrett made 29 saves on 21 goals, while his fellow goalie, Myles Knight, made 17 saves on 19 shots. Shots on goal were closer in this game, with Kincardine at 35, and Penetang at 40.

The ‘Dogs continue in exhibition play, Aug. 26 at 9 p.m., at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine; and Sept. 5 in Walkerton, at 7:30 p.m.
The season home opener is Saturday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. against Wingham, followed by a match against Hanover, Sunday, Sept. 14, at 4 p.m. also at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.
The ‘Dogs are home to Walkerton, Friday, Sept. 19, at 8:30 p.m.; home to Fergus, Friday, Sept. 26, at 8:30 p.m.; and travel to Mitchell, Sunday, Sept. 28, at 4:30 p.m.
