Bulldogs post three wins and one loss in PJHL hockey action
The Kincardine Bulldogs posted three wins and one loss in Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) action over the past couple of weeks.
Saturday night, the ‘Dogs downed Fergus, 5-3, at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.
Kincardine opened the scoring early in the first period on a goal by Bryce Martin from Tyler Wagler and Zasha Ortman. Minutes later, the Bulldogs were up 2-0, as Cole Lewis scored from Jared Houghton and Wyatt Thomas.
The ‘Dogs then took a commanding 3-0 lead on a goal by Wagler from Dawson Marshall, before Fergus potted a couple to make it a 3-2 game.
Martin scored his second of the night from Houghton, late in the second period, to move the Bulldogs ahead, 4-2.
In the final frame, Caeleb Bowler scored from Tristan Steven and Lewis to make it a 5-2 game, before Fergus managed one more goal, giving Kincardine the 5-3 win.
Bulldogs goalie Blake Beitz made 41 saves on 44 shots.
Friday night, in Hanover, the ‘Dogs took an 8-2 shellacking from the Barons.
Goal-scorers for Kincardine, were Wagler, unassisted; and Bowler from Lewis and Martin.
Beitz made 38 saves on 44 shots in goal, while fellow goalie, Myles Knight, made seven saves on nine shots.
Last weekend, the Bulldogs downed both Walkerton and Mitchell on home ice.
Sunday afternoon, Nov. 16, the ‘Dogs edged the Capitals, 5-4, in overtime.
Scoring for Kincardine, during regulation time, were Ortman from Lewis and Bowler; Lewis from Tyler Kelly; Kelly from Lewis; and Cameron Sultana from Wagler.
Bowler then scored the game-winning goal in overtime, from Nathan Lavender and Beitz.
Beitz made 28 saves on 32 shots in net for the ‘Dogs.
Saturday night, Nov. 15, the Bulldogs defeated the Hawks, 5-2.
Scoring for Kincardine, were Lewis from Kelly and Sultana; Sultana from Lewis and Kelly; Kelly from Lewis and Marshall; Drew Birmingham from Lewis and Kelly; and Wagler from Blake Hellyer and Birmingham.
Beitz made 37 saves on 39 shots in goal for the ‘Dogs.
The Bulldogs face Fergus at home and on the road this weekend, taking on the Whalers, Saturday, Nov. 29, at 7:30 p.m., at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine; and Sunday, Nov. 30, at 3 p.m., in Fergus.
