CRIMINAL DRIVING CHARGE LAID AT RIDE CHECK

(GODERICH, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged a Kincardine resident with a criminal driving offence, following a traffic stop at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint in the Town of Goderich.

Just after 11 p.m., Monday, Nov. 24, Huron County OPP officers checked a driver who entered the RIDE check. The driver was, subsequently, arrested for impaired operation and later refused to provide a breath sample as required by law.

Shayne SPEAKMAN, 36, of Kincardine has been charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand.

The driver was additionally charged with offences found in the Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Control Act.

The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused driver's licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich, Jan. 5, 2026.

TRAFFIC STOP YIELDS IMPAIRED DRIVER

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY TWP, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged a Huron-Kinloss Township resident with a criminal driving offence, following a traffic stop on Amberley Road in Morris-Turnberry Township.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, Nov. 25, Huron County OPP officers conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the vehicle driver who had consumed alcohol prior to driving.

The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron County OPP detachment in Clinton to provide breath samples before a qualified OPP Intoxilizer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Joseph HADLEY, 37, of Huron-Kinloss has been charged with Operation while Impaired – Over-80.

The accused was additionally charged with four offences found in the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and Highway Traffic Act.

The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused's driver's licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich, Dec. 29.

INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION NETS 13 CRIMINAL CHARGES

(GODERICH, ON) - Nov. 25, members of the Huron County OPP investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Town of Goderich.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed numerous criminal acts against the partner.

A 40-year-old individual of Goderich has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:
 
  • Assault - Spousal - (three counts)
  • Assault with a Weapon - Spousal - (three counts)
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm - Spousal
  • Forcible Confinement - (two counts)
  • Sexual Assault
  • Mischief - Domestic - (three counts)

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, and then released from custody with a later court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
