Impaired driver arrested after traffic stop in Goderich
(GODERICH, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged a Central Huron resident with an impaired driving offence, following a traffic stop in the Town of Goderich.
Just before 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 28, Huron County OPP officers conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle on Huron Road in Goderich. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation.
The accused provided breath samples before a qualified OPP Intoxilizer Breath Technician at the Huron County OPP detachment in Clinton. Breath samples provided to police resulted in readings over the legal limit.
Rae MELVIN, 25, of Central Huron has been charged with Impaired Operation – Over-80.
The accused was additionally charged with offences found in the Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Control Act.
The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused's driver's licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.
The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich, Jan. 6, 2026.
