Breakers Swim Team invites new swimmers upon move to Pryde Aquatic Centre
With the Breakers Swim Team’s upcoming move to the new Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre in the Town of Saugeen Shores, the team is now able to expand its roster of youth and adults in the local community.

Those interested are invited to join the team, beginning in January, with registration for new swimmers opening on the team’s website today (Dec. 13) at 8 a.m.

Following registration, new swimmers will take part in a friendly assessment to ensure they are placed in the most suitable group to support their growth and enjoyment in the sport. Modern training facilities at the aquatic centre will allow Breakers to grow their swim family while continuing to offer strong, development-focused programming. With more lanes and advanced amenities, the new facility provides an ideal environment for swimmers at all levels to thrive.

“We are very excited to welcome swimmers of all ages and skill levels to the Breakers Swim Team as we embark on this new journey at the Pryde centre,” said team president Jeff Horseman. “Our state-of-the-art facility represents a significant milestone for our team, providing an unparalleled training environment where each swimmer can thrive. Whether you're just starting or looking to sharpen your competitive edge, we have a place for you. Join us in making waves this season!”

In addition to added space, the centre offers upgrades in technology and training tools. The Breakers Swim Team has pledged to raise $195,000 for the new timing display and touch pads. Breakers swimmers will benefit from advanced electronic timing systems and a variety of modern equipment designed to enhance both practice quality and competition readiness.

The swim team offers a full pathway for skill development and competitive progression, including Mini Breakers — the introductory group for new and younger swimmers — Bronze, Silver, and Gold youth teams, and the Masters team for adults.

When asked what she enjoys about being part of the team, Penny, a Bronze-level swimmer, said, “I started swimming when I was seven in Mini Breakers. And now that I’m nine, I can’t imagine my week without the swim team. The team is super fun — we race, cheer each other on, and work hard to get better together. I hope lots of new swimmers join us this winter in the new pool so they can see how great it is too!”

The Breakers are ready to begin this next chapter — new pool, new possibilities, and a growing team ready to make a splash together! Registration information and further updates will be shared on the team’s website and social media channels in the coming weeks.

A Saugeen Shores-based organization serving the local area, the Breakers Swim Team is dedicated to providing a fun, team-based swimming experience for swimmers of all levels. The swim team aims to develop in its athletes the self-discipline, personal responsibility, physical fitness and personal excellence necessary for success in competitive swimming and beyond.
