Women's House seeks nominations for annual Woman of Distinction award
Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey and Bruce County will be hosting the annual International Women’s Day Celebration, Thursday, March 5, at the Mildmay-Carrick Recreation Centre.
In honour of this occasion, Women's House is seeking nominations for the Woman of Distinction award and the Young Woman of Distinction award which are presented at this event.
These awards recognize a woman/young woman who leads through imagination, innovation and dedication. Her exemplary talent and achievements, along with her strength and passion for Bruce and Grey counties, breathe life and energy into the community.
As part of the nomination form, Women's House is calling for submissions explaining why this person should be recognized as a Woman/Young Woman of Distinction. The following criteria have been established to help guide the judging panel in making the final decision:
- Young Woman of Distinction is 24 years of age and under
- Woman of Distinction is 25 years of age and older
- Provides inspiration and motivation to others
- Recognized as a positive role model through example, mentoring and education
- Consistently displays leadership qualities
- Promotes and supports equality, improved opportunities and choices in the community
- Demonstrates vision, innovation or creativity and the courage to take risks
- Advocates positive changes in society through the impact of her activities, particularly for women and girls
- Must be a resident of Bruce County or Grey County
Nominations for these awards will be accepted until Feb. 13. The winner will be invited to the International Women’s Day Event, for the official presentation.
