Purple Grove news
Well, we continue digging out of the snow around the Grove and beyond! It seems that Friday (Jan. 23) was the worst for snow, wind and cold - like a blizzard! It should clear up Saturday (Jan. 24)!

We wish a number of folks a belated Happy Birthday: Shirley Dewar, Judi deBoer, Kevin McKee, Debbie Taylor, Jenny Guay, Jack Aitken, Nathan West and a favourite country music star of many of us, Dolly Parton!

The community is grieving the loss of another long-time neighbour and friend, Roy Collins, who died last Friday. Roy adored his grandchildren and appreciated all the sweet treats at any gathering. We will miss his smile and good humour at any occasion. We extend our sympathy to his family - Jennifer and Steve, Angela, and David and Irene, and his grandchildren and extended family. A celebration of life will be held in May.

We also extend our sympathy to other families grieving the loss of loved ones in our communities as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all in these difficult times.

Thanks to some members of the Ripley and District Horticultural Society for planning a garden bingo at Rosewood RVilla, Wednesday afternoon! Sounds as if everyone had fun with that!

The weather has played havoc with annual meetings as well. The Ripley Agricultural Society AGM has been re-scheduled for Monday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m., at the Ripley-Huron Legion, while the Kincardine Agricultural Society switched its meeting to a virtual event, Saturday, Jan. 24.

It's also the annual Robbie Burns celebration this weekend, so take care and hope that goes as planned!
