Huron Shores Hospice planning to add third suite at Tiverton Park Manor
Plans are under way for a third residential suite at Huron Shores Hospice, located at Tiverton Park Manor.

A press release from the hospice states this will increase its capacity for end-of-life care and provide a home-like, dignified space for residents and their families. "We are grateful for the continued encouragement from our community and look forward to sharing more progress as the year unfolds."

As it looks ahead to 2026, the hospice is reminded that the foundation of its care has always been rooted in the voices of those it serves. Public feedback, lived experiences and participation continue to shape how hospice care and community support evolve in the region.

This year, the hospice will be expanding its programs and bringing them into new spaces throughout the community. This includes more grief supports, education sessions and continued offerings, all at no-cost, as well as the opportunity for people to access these resources closer to home. Reducing barriers and increasing comfort is an important part of the hospice's commitment to accessible care.

"None of this work is done in isolation," states the press release. "The future of rural hospice care is shaped in partnership with the people who rely on us. We are deeply grateful for your continued involvement, whether you have participated in a program, joined a group, volunteered, donated or shared feedback with us. Your voice matters to us and it has a real impact on how we grow."

SOME MORE MEANINGFUL MOMENTS:

  • Bruce Power matching donations: The end-of-year campaign was strengthened by Bruce Power’s generous matching gift support, helping donor contributions go twice as far.
  • Faith communities leading with compassion: Kincardine United Church, St. Paul’s Anglican Church Women, Bervie United Church, Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church, Port Elgin United Church, the Lucknow United Church Women, and the Women of Port Elgin United Church demonstrated heartfelt generosity and care for local families through their support.
  • Community organizations giving back: The Huron Lakeshore Friendship Club, Morson International, and the Grey Bruce Insurance Brokers Association contributed to strengthening hospice care and sustaining programs that support the community through their generous contributions.
  • Service clubs supporting care close to home: The Kincardine Lions Club and Tiverton Lions Club offered dedicated support for compassionate, community-centred care. The Port Elgin Legion provided thoughtful contributions toward enhancing resident comfort, as well as ongoing hospice operations. The hospice is also grateful to the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce, whose Breakfast of Leadership event extended meaningful support to hospice services.
  • Creativity turning into care: Local entrepreneur Nicole Rae Ireland of Stilara once again transformed her annual Christmas Market into a powerful act of community giving, raising support for hospice through creativity and connection. VG Renovations also continues the legacy of giving year-after-year, presented with humbleness and gratitude.
  • A legacy of community pride: The Ripley Reunion chose to support the Family Area of the new third suite — an act rooted in community tradition and the belief that compassionate care should always be close to home. The Municipality of Kincardine has also provided a significant contribution which has allowed the hospice to update the lift chairs and tables within the current hospice suites.
  • Support with lasting impact: The Kincardine Bridge Club continued its long-standing commitment to hospice, demonstrating how sustained support over time creates lasting impact for local families.
  • When gratitude becomes legacy: Families that have experienced hospice care first-hand continued to give back with profound generosity — honouring loved ones, expressing gratitude, and helping ensure that other families will receive the same comfort and compassion when it is needed most.
  • Hot cocoa and yoga brings community together: The Hot Cocoa and Yoga event, presented by Virgo and Dunbar Fitness, was a wonderful celebration of movement, connection, and generosity in support of hospice care. Special thanks to Lorraine for leading a beautiful class, Lisa for keeping everything running smoothly, Mandy for joining as a fellow instructor, and Ann and Lakeshore Recreation for hosting. The hospice is also grateful to Lynda of Her Strength Studio for partnering to make this event happen. Thank you to everyone who came out, donated, and shared in this joyful gathering.

I am a Kincardine Legion member and fully support their initiatives, the Legion has provided donations from the Chase the Ace campaign to the hospice. In this article I didn’t see the Legion mentioned.
