Highway 21, Kincardine to Southampton, re-opened Wednesday morning
Highway 21, from Kincardine to Southampton, was re-opened early Wednesday morning.
The South Bruce OPP reported that as of Jan. 28 at 5:46 a.m., the road was open, after closing Tuesday night, for public safety due to high wind, blowing snow, and poor-to-nil visibility.
By 7:20 a.m., Bruce County Road 3, from Highway 9 to Paisley, was also open, but Bruce County Road 1, from Highway 9 to Paisley, remained closed, due to poor driving conditions.
School buses were cancelled in Kincardine and Walkerton, and the Kincardine District Senior School (KDSS) secondary student exams were postponed.
KDSS principal Don Burns stated that due to a third day of inclement weather and bus cancellations during the exam schedule, Period B/C/D exams would be rescheduled to Thursday, Jan. 29. Because of this condensed timeline, exams would be shortened and optional, allowing students the opportunity to improve their marks without lowering them. A regular instructional school day schedule would be followed with students using Period A for study in their classroom. Friday, Jan. 30, is a Professional Activity Day.
