Bulldogs up three games against Goderich Flyers in playoffs
The Nicol Insurance Kincardine Junior "C" Bulldogs are up three games to none over the Goderich Flyers in Western Junior "C" playoffs which began on the weekend.

Friday, Jan. 29, the Bulldogs lost to Hanover, 3-2, after two overtime periods, in the final game of the regular season. Goal-scorers were Brady Richards from Shane Vollmer; and Robert White from Shane Vollmer and Logan Freiburger.

The 'Dogs opened their playoff series against the Goderich Flyers, Friday night, at the Davidson Centre, taking a 6-3 win.

Shane Vollmer opened the scoring early in the first, from Dalton Hnatko and Matt Mah. Minutes later, Derrick Bernath made it a 2-0 game, from Shawn Moore. Goderich scored a goal, but Kincardine's Shawn Rooke fired in a shot from Bernath and Moore, to end the period with a 3-1 lead.

Goderich scored late in the second, before Gerrit Satosek scored for the 'Dogs, from Mah and Hnatko, to make it a 4-2 game.

In the final frame, Brett Burrows scored from Shane Vollmer and Mah midway in the period, before Goderich fired in another one, and then Tyler Fregona wrapped up the scoring for Kincardine, unassisted, giving the Bulldogs a 6-3 win.

Game 2 in Goderich, Saturday night, was a one-sided affair, as the Bulldogs blanked the Flyers, 10-0. Scoring for the 'Dogs were Eric Langridge with a hat-trick, Moore (2), Rooke, Fregona, Michael Osadca, Logan Freiburger and Shane Vollmer. Assists went to Mah, Satosek (2), Moore (3), Logan Freiburger (2), Burrows (2), Hnatko, Bernath, Richards, and Patrick Wiejak.

The Bulldogs took Game 3 at the Davidson Centre, Sunday afternoon, 6-4.

Kincardine opened the scoring on a powerplay effort by Moore from Fregona and Satosek. Goderich then fired in two quick shots to take a 2-1 lead.

Satosek tied things up for the Bulldogs in the second period, from Fregona.

Early in the third, Logan Freiburger put the 'Dogs ahead, 3-2, from Patrick Wiejak, but minutes later, Goderich tied it up at 3-3. Moore scored from Fregona to make it a 4-3 game, and then Fregona scored from Satosek and Moore to give the 'Dogs a two-goal lead.

That didn't last as Goderich came within one, but Matthew Mah scored an empty-netter from Brady Richards to give the 'Dogs the 6-4 win.

Kincardine is back in Goderich, Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 8 :30 p.m. And if necessary, Game 5 is back at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, Friday, Feb. 12, at 8:30 p.m.
