Two arrested in drug seizure in Brockton
(BROCKTON, ON) - A search warrant executed in the Municipality of Brockton has resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of illegal drugs and offence-related property. Two individuals from Brockton have been charged.
An investigation initiated by members of the South Bruce OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), led investigators to an address in Brockton.
Wednesday, April 8, a search warrant was executed at an address on Orange Street, which resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, offence-related property (weigh scales and cellular phones), and Canadian currency. The total value of the illegal drugs seized is approximately $264,000.
Andreas CHARALAMBOUS, 58, of Brockton, has been charged with:
- Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, and later released from custody with a court date scheduled for May 20.
Verna RIEL, 58, of Brockton, has been charged with:
- Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
The accused was arrested and later released with a court date of April 22, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton.
Officers from the South Bruce OPP, Wellington County OPP CSCU, Grey-Bruce OPP CSCU, West Region Emergency Response Team and West Region OPP Canine Unit, assisted with the investigation.
"This investigation represents a significant disruption to the illegal drug trade within our communities," said South Bruce OPP staff-sergeant Lynn McNichol. "The dedicated work of the Community Street Crime Unit, supported by front-line officers, reinforces a clear and unequivocal message that drug-trafficking will not be tolerated in South Bruce communities."
