Knox Kincardine hosting first Variety Music Concert, May 22
Knox Presbyterian Church, Kincardine, is hosting its first Variety Music Concert, Friday, May 22, from 7-9 p.m.

In previous years, the church has featured talented musicians from across southwestern Ontario, including the "Chatham 3 Tenors" and the "Allison Lupton Band." However, the Kincardine and area community has its own wealth of talented vocalists and musicians covering a wide age group, and this variety concert will showcase a cross-section of the local’s finest.

The concert has two acts.

The World Fiddle Day Players will anchor the first act with their vocalist, Ashley Steinhoff, featuring their Canadian style of fiddling with its roots in Scottish, Irish and French traditions.

Two young vocalists will also be in Act 1. From the Jocelyn Leidy School of Music, Ruby Wreford and Myles Fraser will entertain the audience with several popular songs including “Take Me Home Country Roads” and “Home.”

Act 2 has a combination of an easy-listening jazz band and a group of Kincardine’s finest vocalists. The "Light and Easy Band," led by Steve Hasbury, will perform some of its favourite songs, such as “Crystal Chandelier” and “Ashokan Farewell."

Four vocalists, Nicole and Cullen Reid, Jenn Rauket and John Low, will entertain the audience with their wide range of contemporary songs, including “What a Wonderful World.”

The concert will end with the Knox pipers and organ performing a stirring rendition of “Highland Cathedral.”

To thank the community for attending this first variety concert, there will be a couple of door prizes. There are no tickets for this concert but donations are welcome at the door.
