More than 30 cast and crew ready to stage "Musicville" at Elgin Market Public School
The 32-member cast and crew have been fine-tuning their performance of the musical, "Musicville," which takes to the stage tomorrow (April 27), at Elgin Market Public School in Kincardine.
Featuring students in Grades 3-6, the bright and colourful show tells the story of Melody Meadows, played by Ellodie Moore, who is bustling with excitement as she prepares for the annual festival planned for that evening: a celebration of musical freedom.
The daughter of the Queen (Paige Wright), Melody yearns for adventure and is bored with the town's yearly routine. In search of excitement, she convinces her best friend, the timid Radical Rhythm (Elsie Harford), to sneak up to the roof of the palace to watch the festival.
Meanwhile, the Sorcerer of Silence (Mavis Hervieux), Melody's aunt, is fed up with the town's constant noise. She concocts a magical portion that will forever silence anyone who drinks it. When the town toasts from the river's sacred water, which the Sorcerer secretly pollutes, everyone gradually becomes silent.
Except for Melody and Radical who must travel to find the Composer of "Ahhs" in the Castle of Composition, to help them reverse the spell.
Their adventure takes them through the Desert of Doo-Wop, the Orange Ocean of Opera, and the Terrible Terrain of Tango.
Will they reach the Composer of "Ahhs," get the magical song to reserve the spell, and return to save their town? You'll have to attend the musical to find out.
"Musicville is directed by Erica Everingham, with music director Victoria Boucher.
The show runs April 27 at 9:40 a.m., April 28 at 9:40 a.m. and 6 p.m., May 4 at 9:40 a.m., and May 5 at 9:40 a.m. and 6 p.m. Entrance is by donation toward future musicals, musical instruments and new sound and lighting equipment.
