Bruce Power donates $500,000 to BUILDKD-plus campaign for new senior school in Kincardine
Bruce Power has donated $500,000 to the BUILDKD-plus campaign, providing enhancements to the new Kincardine District Senior School (KDSS), slated to open in 2028.

James Scongack, chief operating officer and executive vice-president, was at the school, Thursday night, at the Banding Together performance in the gymnasium. The music night featured the Kincardine Brass Band, the KDSS intermediate band, KDSS senior jazz band, KDSS senior concert band, and the Port Elgin Community Band.

The brass band opened the evening with the national anthem, followed by its performance under the direction of Nancy Ross.

KDSS principal Don Burns then welcomed Scongack to make the presentation.

"You know, this is a community effort to raise the money to enhance the new school," said Scongack. "You can all get involved in one of three ways: donate what you can; volunteer your time to help raise money; or promote the campaign.

"We, at Bruce Power, do what we can do. Tonight, on behalf of our employees, I'm pleased to present $500,000 toward the campaign."

After much fanfare and photos were taken, it was back to the music night, with Gabi Cathrae directing the KDSS intermediate (Grades 7-8) band, followed by Andrew Robichaud directing the KDSS senior jazz band and the KDSS senior (Grades 9-12) concert band.

Wrapping up the evening, was the Port Elgin Community Band, under the direction of Cam Porter.

The next fund-raiser for the BUILDKD-plus campaign, is a Trivia Night, May 22, from 7-10 p.m., at the Kincardine Legion. For more information about the BUILDKD-plus campaign, click here.
