Congratulations to all of last week’s winners. At last, at the Saturday Meat Draw, we had just one double-dipper, and it was Scott Allen who won two prizes. The 50/50 draw was won by Heather Roppel, and yes that was two times in three weeks for her. She took home $127.

In the Kin Cares 50/50 Draw,
congratulations Joy Laidler on winning the second $500 Early Bird Prize for May. Don’t forget to grab your tickets for the end of the month draw. At this writing, the jackpot sits at more than $11,000. Tickets for the May 50/50 draw will be on sale until Sunday, May 31st (11:59 p.m. for on-line purchases). Our May jackpot winner will be announced, Monday, June 1! You can get your tickets on-line at www.kincares5050.ca. You can also get them in person at the Legion Bar and at the Auxiliary Gift Shop at the Kincardine Hospital. As a reminder, the ticket levels are five tickets for $10; 20 tickets for $20; and 100 tickets for $40. Get yours today, the month isn’t over yet - and we need your help to keep the momentum going!

There are a lot of events happening at Branch 183 over the next few weeks. Starting tomorrow night, Friday,
May 22, the Legion is hosting the KDSS Fund-raising Trivia Event in the hall. This is sure to be a fun night. Then more fun Saturday, May 23, as teams will compete in the Branch 183 Cornhole Tournament. Although there are no more spots for additional teams, everyone is welcome to come have a beverage and watch. It should be interesting to see who comes out on top. Sunday, we have our Family Dinner with roast beef on the menu, beginning at 5 p.m.

Next week, Friday, May 29, we have our regular monthly Trivia Night. Sign-up is now open, and although there are still tables available, they fill up fast. So sign up your team soon at the Legion Bar. The fee for a team of eight is $40.

Saturday, May 30, the Legion is holding another fund-raiser, "Back to the '80s and '90s Dance," hosted by Todd Thompson and friends. Check with Todd about ticket availability. The fund-raiser is in support of Kincardine Food Bank and the Kincardine Hospital.

Looking ahead a little further, our next Music Bingo Night will be Friday, June 19, at 7 p.m. so save the date. We will have five new playlists for the five games; a booklet for the five games is just $10.

For those wondering, we will be having our annual Canada Day Barbecue with HWY 19, starting around noon. Our Colour Party will be part of the parade as well. The Branch 183 Colour Party is always looking for new members, so if you are interested, reach out to our Sergeant-at-Arms Kirk Rutledge.

We love our volunteers and all they do, and the Kincardine Legion is hosting our annual Volunteer and Awards Banquet, Saturday, June 6. Volunteers, check your E-mail for the invite and please RSVP via E-mail so we know if you are coming. Cocktail hour is at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by the award presentations.

Branch 183 is pleased to announce that we now have 215 new members, under the free Centenary Legion Membership offer for 2026. We wish to welcome everyone to the Branch. A few reminders ... if you have any questions at all, if you are not receiving member E-mails, or if you would like to look into volunteering with us, don’t hesitate to reach out to us, or to any executive member. We have many areas where you can help the Branch if you are interested. We will be having another New Member Meet and Greet in September.

Finally, if any new members are not following us on social media, follow our Facebook page and Instagram account. We are very close to pushing past 3,000 followers on Facebook, so help us reach this milestone by inviting a friend.

Coming Events:

  • Sunday, June 7 - Lighthouse Swing Band Dance - 2-5 p.m.

  • Friday, June 19 - Music Bingo Night - 7 p.m.

  • Wednesday, July 1 - Canada Day Barbecue with HWY 19
