Sporting their new UBC Local 2222 jerseys, the Kincardine Under-14 (U14) girls competitive soccer team travelled to Kitchener, Thursday, for the season opener against the Kitchener TFC squad.
The girls battled hard from start to finish, ultimately falling 2-1 in a closely-contested match. Kincardine controlled much of the midfield play and created several strong scoring opportunities throughout the game.
Lily Semmens scored the lone goal for Kincardine, finding the back of the net in an exciting first match of the season.
Despite the result, the game proved the team has the skill, determination, and work ethic needed to compete in the South West District Soccer League this season. Coaches were proud of the team’s effort, teamwork, and composure as the girls kicked off what promises to be an exciting year of competitive soccer.
