A very busy week at the Kincardine Legion, Branch 183. As they say at the Table of Wisdom, “Miss a day, miss a lot.” And a lot was happening.
Last Friday was the monthly Trivia Night. A well-attended crowd battled brains for the ultimate prize. In the end, the KTG Outcasts (below) reigned supreme, out-guessing the multitude of competitors. Honourable mention went to “And So It Goes,” a Billy Joel throw-back team, only seven points behind. Doug Holtby and his team were conspicuously absent. Word on the street is they are re-tooling to enhance their performance.

Saturday was the '80s and '90s Dance hosted by Todd Thompson and friends. Despite the '80s being scientifically proven as the worst decade of music in history, Todd and his accomplices ran a super successful evening attended by almost 200 costumed time travellers. The bounty was generously donated to the Kincardine Food Bank and the Kincardine Hospital.
As most know, the Kin Cares 50/50 monthly draw is ongoing. Proceeds are shared equally between the Kincardine Legion and the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation. Both organizations work hard to provide much-needed support for our community. Consider participating in our monthly draw, and like Brigette Rouleau, dream of being a winner yourself. Brigette won $7,690 in the May draw.

Branch 183 wrapped up its 2025-26 shuffleboard season this week with a gala event in the Veteran’s Lounge. The event featured a spring cuisine skillfully prepared by executive members president Teri Leslie, 1st-vice Cathy Alcombrack and Mark Ozorio. A Michelin Star event. Thanks much. The awards presentation revealed the following excelsiors:

The winner of the regular season, earning the Presidents Cup Award - The Brothers Grim (a.k.a. Brian and Dave McKay).
The day featured a championship play-down to determine the winner of the Holtby Commissioners Award as Playoff League Champion. In contrast to the odds-makers beliefs, “The Sistas,” Teri Leslie and Kim McElroy (a.k.a. Cathy Alcombrack), narrowly defeated The Brothers Grim by a healthy margin. Congratulations to all competitors. See you next year.

Lots of events happening this summer. Pay attention to the Legion Facebook page and website.
