The following is a message to the community from Graham Mahood and Kathryn Freimanis, co-chairpersons of the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation's capital campaign:
Hi everyone — a quick update from your Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation campaign team as we head into summer. Thank you for the incredible support you continue to show for our hospital and this once-in-a-generation redevelopment.
Progress update - Since our milestone announcement, May 20 — when we shared the new exterior renderings and celebrated reaching $14-million raised — our community has stepped up once again. We are now at $14.3-million, bringing us another $300,000 closer to our $18-million community share. Every gift, every event, every conversation is moving this project forward. Thank you for being part of it.
Why your support matters - Kincardine and our surrounding communities are growing — and with that growth comes a greater demand for modern, accessible, close-to-home care. To meet today’s needs and prepare for the next 30 years, a major hospital redevelopment is under way that will transform emergency care, diagnostics, and the patient experience for everyone who relies on the Kincardine hospital.
This project will deliver: Bruce County’s first Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine; an expanded medical imaging suite; a modernized laboratory; and a significantly larger emergency department designed for faster, safer, more efficient care.
The Kincardine Hospital redevelopment project is a joint effort between the Province of Ontario and the South Bruce Grey Health Centre. While the province funds construction, communities must fund a 10-per-cent portion of those construction costs and 100 per cent of the equipment that makes modern care possible. As health centre chief executive officer Nancy Shaw said, shovels are on track to hit the ground in late spring/early summer of 2027. Construction is coming.
We’ve updated the foundation website, at www.kincardinefoundation.ca, so you can now explore all the exterior renderings along with a more detailed site plan showing the full scope of the expansion.
We’re excited to share that our third annual Giving Cruise Day will be held during the July 31 Kincardine Cruise Night. We’ve got matching donations of $50,000 ready for this year! More details are coming soon — but mark your calendar now. This is always one of our most energetic fund-raising days of the year.
Our speaker team is available all summer and fall. If your workplace, service club, or community group would like to learn more about the redevelopment or the MRI, we’d be happy to come out. Send us an E-mail message at kinchospitalcampaign@gmail.com.
