Ripley Wolves set to face Shelburne in semi-finals

The Ripley Wolves will face the Shelburne Muskies in a best-of-seven WOAA Senior "A" semi-final series, beginning Friday night in Ripley. Puck drop is 8:30 p.m. at the Ripley Arena. The rest of the series has yet to be determined.

The Wolves made it to the semi-finals, following a 3-0 win over the Lucknow Lancers, Saturday night, at the Lucknow Arena. Drew Davidson had a hat-trick, firing in two early goals, and then finishing with an empty-netter.

Ripley was 0-2 in round-robin play after a 6-5 loss to Milverton, Friday night, in Ripley.

The Wolves opened the scoring early in the first on a goal by Davidson from Derek Regier and Jarred Colling. Milverton got the tying goal and ended the period with a 2-1 lead.

Milverton made it a 3-1 game early in the third, before Cody Britton added one for the Wolves, assisted by Brett Catto and Blair Pollock.

Both sides slammed in three goals apiece in the third frame, giving Milverton the 6-5 win. Scoring for Ripley, were Davidson from Britton and Brian Stanley; Ryan Dudgeon from Davidson and Stanley; and Davidson, for the hat-trick, with just 10 seconds remaining, from Catto and Jeremy McQuillin.

The Wolves played the Shelburne Muskies in a meaningless game Tuesday night on the road.
