The Ripley Wolves defeated Shallow Lake 5-4 in overtime in the opener of the ‘A’ playoff round-robin, Saturday, Feb. 7.
Ripley opened the scoring midway in the first period, on a powerplay effort by Mark Stanley from Nick Locking and Brian Stanley.
Cody Britton made it 2-0 for the Wolves, minutes later, assisted by Brett Catto and Alex MacLeod.
Tim Dwinnell added another marker for the Wolves, late in the period, from Tyler DeVos and Jordan Turcotte, to take a 3-0 lead into the second.
Shallow Lake grabbed a quick goal early in the second frame, before Brian Stanley scored for the Wolves, assisted by Paul Stewart, to make it a 4-1 game. But Shallow Lake was far from finished as the Crushers scored another goal in the second and two in the third to tie things at 4-4.
Seconds into the overtime period, Locking scored from Jeremy McQuillin and Catto to take the 5-4 win.
The Wolves were scheduled to host Lucknow tonight (Feb. 14) at 8 p.m., and then travel to Seaforth. tomorrow (Feb. 15) for a game at 8 p.m.
