Registration for 2017 Kincardine Women's Triathlon sold-out again, now has wait list
Registration for the 17th annual Kincardine Women's Triathlon is sold-out, with 450 ladies ready to participate in the race, slated for July 8, 2017, at 9 a.m., at Station Beach.
Race director Kim Westbrook said on-line registration opened New Year's Day at 10 a.m., and by 2 p.m., it was sold-out. That's not as fast as the past two years when registration was sold-out in less than an hour.
However, this year, a wait list will be opening in February so those unable to register Jan. 1, may still have a chance, said Westbrook. "We have 450 participants registered, and those registrations are non-transferrable. So we're starting a wait list so we make sure the race is full July 8."
She is anticipating another great race, including the swim portion this year. Last year, the 350-metre swim was cancelled after the rough water of Lake Huron was deemed unsafe. That meant the triathletes became duathletes and completed two portions of the three-kilometre run, and a 12-kilometre bike ride.
Westbrook noted that the event organizers are looking for energetic and motivated individuals to be part of the executive team, planning the 2017 race, and the 17th year. They are seeking help in the following areas:
- Sponsorship Co-ordinator
- Finance Co-ordinator
- Bike Co-ordinator
If you want to be part of this amazing team and help empower 450 women to reach new goals, the organizers want you! For more information, contact Westbrook at kincardinetriathlon@gmail.com.
Proceeds from the annual Kincardine Women's Triathlon go toward Community Living of Kincardine and District.
Last year, Elizabeth Bruce of Kingston won the triathlon (run as a duathlon), while Nicole O'Hagan of Uxbridge won the duathlon.
