Kincardine Miller Midgets win International Silver Stick championship
The Kincardine Miller Insurance Midgets won the International Silver Stick "B" championship at the tournament in Forest on the weekend (Jan. 6-8).
The boys had four wins and one loss at the tournament.
Kincardine lost the first game, 3-2, to Ingersoll, but rallied to defeat Mooretown in a shoot-out. The Kinucks went on to shut out Ayr, 3-0; and then down Elmvale, 3-1, in the semi-final, to win a berth in the championship final.
There, the Midget Kinucks faced Ingersoll again, but managed to edge their opponents, 2-1, to take the banner and trophy and the 2016-17 championship.
Four of the Kinucks, goalie Jamie Brock, captain Rhys Vollmer, assistant captain Connor Gibson and Riley Cherrett, have been named to the International Silver Stick Midget "B" All-Star Team.
