Bulldogs face elimination Wednesday night in semi-finals against Wingham

The Nicol Insurance Kincardine Junior "C" Bulldogs will be facing elimination in the next game in their best-of-seven semi-final series against the Wingham Ironmen after dropping a tough one, 4-0, Saturday night at the Davidson Centre. This sends the series back to Wingham, Wednesday night for Game 5, with the Ironmen leading 3-1.

Saturday night’s game was a tough one for the hometown fans to watch, as Wingham seemed to have an answer for every Kincardine threat. The Ironmen opened the scoring just 1:08 into the game, and never looked back.
Wingham scored an additional three goals, including one into an empty net, while the 'Dogs just could not seem to get anything going.

Kincardine will be looking to bounce back when faced with elimination Wednesday night. If the 'Dogs win, then Game 6 goes Friday night at the Davidson Centre.

Kincardine has played well in the series, but it as not been an easy path to the semis. The Ironmen, as league champs, were given an opening round "bye" while Kincardine had to battle through the Mount Forest Patriots. The series against the Pats was a physically-demanding one, but the 'Dogs did wrap it up with an overtime victory in Game 6 in Mount Forest when Sam Feagan found the back of the net at 12:29 of overtime, ending the Pats season and sending the 'Dogs into the forge against the Ironmen.

Wingham has been playing solid hockey all season, and dominated the 'Dogs in the regular season with a perfect 6-0 record, so Kincardine knew coming in that the series would be an uphill battle.
Game 1 saw the Ironmen outshoot the 'Dogs. 35-21, taking the series opener by a final of 7-0.
Game 2 saw the 'Dogs bounce back on home ice to take a 5-2 win.
Game 3 was a heartbreaker in overtime for the 'Dogs as Kincardine out-shot Wingham by a count of 32-28, and despite Chad Simpson’s powerplay goal to tie the game late in the second, the momentum stayed on Wingham’s side as the Ironmen took the win just 4:58 into the overtime period.

The Walkerton Hawks are awaiting the winner of the Kincardine-Wingham semi-final as they needed only five games to dispatch the Hanover Barons. Here’s hoping we see you at the rink on Friday for Game 6.
