Although both teams have already secured a spot in the ‘A’ semi-finals in Senior "A" hockey action, the Ripley Wolves hosted the Lucknow Lancers Sunday afternoon, in a re-scheduled game, and came away with an 8-7 overtime win.
Goalie Jason Reid faced 37 shots in the Wolves win on Sunday. Goals were scored by Travis VanGaver (3), Mark Stanley (2), Jeremy McQuillin, Cody Britton and Jordan Turcotte. VanGaver completed his hat-trick in the first minute of overtime, securing the win.
Assists went to McQuillin (3), Devin Kemp, Paul Stewart, Blair Pollock, Kyle Wreford, Brian Stanley, Tyler McCarthy and VanGaver.
The Wolves will now open their semi-final series against the Milverton Drives, Friday at 8:30 p.m., in Ripley. Game 2 will be in Milverton on Sunday, March 8, at 1 p.m. See the full schedule here.
In their only meeting this season, the Wolves defeated Milverton, 7-3, in the round-robin portion of the ‘A’ playoffs. Shallow Lake and Lucknow begin the other semi-final this weekend as well.
