Ainsdale ladies persevere through rain, wind; sun shines for senior men
The Ainsdale ladies persevered through, and around, the morning rain and afternoon wind to present some amazing scoring on the back nine, Tuesday.
Maureen Peet took the ladies in A flight to task again this week, with Laura Haight hot on her heels. Nancy Stewart found her putting stroke to sweep in her birdie on No. 12.
The top two for Stableford points this week, by flight, were:
- A - Maureen Peet 17, Laura Haight 17
- B - Wendy Gardner 20, Barb Grubb 19
- C - Michele Lanthier 19, Nancy Turcotte 19
- D - Deb Quinn 15, Robin Ballantyne 14
- E - Edie Fotheringham 14
The low putters for the day were, Denise Tighe 15, Barb Grubb 14, Shirley Thomas 14, Lesley MacGregor 18, and Edie Fotheringham 16.
The lucky draw winners of the sports duffel bags donated by Creative Casuals, courtesy of Chris Turcotte, sponsor for the day, were: Nancy Turcotte, Barb Grubb, Heather Struthers, Shirley Thomas, Denise Tighe, Lesley MacGregor, Laura Haight, and Christine MacDonald.
SENIOR MEN'S LEAGUE
The sun never seems to stop shining Wednesday mornings for the Senior Men's scramble at Ainsdale.
Another large gathering was headed by the group of Blayne Shewfelt, Clarke Pollock, John Bond and Larry Irwin, who played the back nine at minus-three. With two teams tied at minus-two, the group of Harvey Lootsma, Ken Bresee, Tim McCormick and Richard Emmerton claimed second place, after a putt-off.
Closest-to-the-pin winners were Rod MacDonald on No. 12 and Derek Kennedy on No. 17.
