Kincardine Bantams, Peewees play hard at Silver Stick regional
The Kincardine Bantams and Peewees played hard but did not make it to the finals at the Kincardine Regional Silver Stick tournament, held Dec. 27-30.
The Bantam Kinucks, in the "B" division, started off well, defeating Walkerton, 3-2; and Listowel, 3-1. However, in the semi-final, they lost to Walkerton, 4-1, and that ended their Silver Stick run.
Walkerton faced Listowel in the final and lost, 3-1, with Listowel advancing to the International Silver Stick.
Meanwhile, the Peewee Kinucks, in the "B" division, also had a good showing, blanking Saugeen Shores, 1-0; tying BCH, 1-1; and doubling Hanover, 2-0. However, in the semi-final, the Saugeen Shores Storm made up for the earlier loss, taking a 2-1 win over Kincardine to advance to the finals.
Saugeen Shores faced Mitchell in the final and lost, 4-1, with Mitchell advancing to the International Silver Stick.
Both Bantam and Peewee "B" International Silver Stick tournaments will be held in Forest, between Jan. 5-21.
