The Ripley Raven boys basketball team earned a hard-fought championship at the South West Regional tournament March 25 at Kincardine District Secondary School.
In their first game the Ravens challenged Lucknow. A much-improved Lucknow team proved to be worthy opponents for Ripley as baskets were scored at both ends of the court. With timely foul shots and excellent passing, the Ripley team claimed the victory, 27-17.
The Ravens met Huron Heights in their next game and were determined to experience different results than the last time these two teams met. It was an quick-paced, back-and-forth match, and at the end of the first half, Ripley was leading by a narrow 16-15 tally.
The Ravens took control in the second with their strategic play, hard passes and quick advances down the court to defeat Huron Heights, 28-21.
The Ripley boys team now advances to the Bluewater District tournament, April 14, in Flesherton. Congratulations on another successful day!
