Registration begins April 20 for Kincardine adult soccer

In 2007, a man by the name of Gareth Hall Elwood realized that the adult residents of Kincardine had a vast and untapped interest in soccer.

The number of players attending his weekly pick-up sessions at “the flats” just west of the Davidson Centre, was overwhelming and that number was growing every week due to new people moving to the area.

With that realization, self-motivation and drive, Hall Elwood organized the first adult soccer league in Kincardine and named it 6-on-6 soccer due to the number of players in the field for each team. Thursday was the night chosen and everyone was thrilled about playing in this organized league.

Fast-forward eight years later, and that one league has now become the not-for-profit Kincardine Adult Soccer Association, organizing three leagues: two nights of of 6-on-6, and one night of 11–on-11 in the summer; and one night of 5-on-5 indoor soccer in the winter.

The organization’s  mission is to to promote and maintain adult fitness and give back to the community through donations to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program and other projects, such as the Davidson Centre Gym and the Kincardine Lions Club's Splash Pad.

This year, outdoor on-line-registration for 6-on-6 and 11-on-11 opens April 20 and closes May 4. In-person registration is May 5 at the Davidson Centre. Full details are available at www.kincardineadultsoccer.com or by E-mail at kincardineadultsoccer@gmail.com.
